BMV-702 reverted to 700

Just took delivery of a BMV-702 (has 702 printed on the front) and connected up - all seemed to work well including using B2+ to monitor my second battery.

Then I connected to Victron Connect (USB Cable to my Android tablet) - it recognised it as a BMV-700 and wouldn't do anything until it had upgraded from 3.08(?) to 3.10.

Now it doesn't show the B2+ option in manual setup or via Victron Connect.

Tried resetting to default several times with no luck - menu option 69 doesn't appear!

Any ideas?

Thanks

That's bizarre, it should not have done that.

You should be able to flash it with the correct firmware manually using the Windows (or Apple Macintosh) version of the VictronConnect software.
You can get the correct firmware file (BMV-702_V3_10.dup) from professional.victronenergy.com
You can sign up for free if you have not done so already. Download that firmware file to your computer.

In the Windows VictronConnect software, you go to settings (the little cog top right) -> three vertical dots (top right again) -> Product info.
On this page there should be an "Update" button. When you press this, a file explorer window should pop up asking for the location of the .dup file.
Offer it the correct .dup file and it should flash the correct firmware to your BMV-702.

Hi WKirby, thanks for the reply - been there, tried that - but no success.

Trying to flash the BMV-702_V3_10.dup just gets a wrong product (or some such) message - no way to over-ride it.

How can Victron sell hardware (702) that their own software (Victron Connect and cable) ID's a device incorrectly them flashes and downgrades it?

Why Victron Connect insists you upgrade the firmware before use is crazy - looks like v3.09 was a clunker too.

Yes it is bizarre, seems to be loads of firmware update related woes on this site.

Not at all happy :(
